SEO or Search Engine Optimization is a very common term in the field of website traffic. If you own a website, then you probably have heard of this a couple of times. But what is Search Engine Optimization and how important it is towards your site?
What is Search Engine Optimization?
Have you ever wondered why an unappealing, unresponsive site is at the number 1 rank of search engines, whereas your awesome site is at rock bottom? This is because that unappealing site has optimized their site for search engines.
Search Engine Optimization, or SEO for short, is the process of improving the quality and quantity of a site for it to be acceptable on search engines. This only includes all unpaid efforts and results and does not involve paid placements and direct traffic.
There are generally two types of SEO; On-Site SEO and Off-Site SEO.
1. On-Site SEO is the process of optimizing your website internally. This often involves internal pages, internal links, etc, while;
2. Off-Site SEO is the opposite. This practice deals with the external reach of your site, which often involves, external links, backlinks, and other external sources of traffic.
Although these two have very different approaches, they cannot be separated as both need each other to have a good result with regards to SEO.
How important is Search Engine Optimization?
Imagine that you are selling hand-crafted wood furniture that you personally make. The details are beautiful and you are selling it for a cheap price. Sounds like a good deal right? But there is a catch. No one else knows that you are selling these beautiful creations.
Now let’s relate that to your website. You own an astonishing website. The content is great, the design is awesome, and has great responsiveness. But people can’t see it.
This is where Search Engine Optimization comes in. As search engines, google for example, “reads” your site, it doesn’t see all that fancy design that your site has. It can only see a bunch of codes and commands that will determine if your site is viable to be ranked on that search engine.
Thus, it is required to be optimized. Without optimizing your site for search engines, Google will deem your site as “bad” for them, therefore, lowering your rank. And you will be left to wonder, why an unappealing, poorly designed site ranks higher than you are.
A Few Words
Search Engine Optimization is much more important than it sounds, especially if you are planning on creating a business online.
If your site is not optimized, search engines won’t like it. If search engines don’t like your site, then people cant see it. If people can’t see it, then you will have no visitors. If you have no visitors, then you won’t have any potential customers.
That is why almost every time you here someone saying that your site should be optimized for search engines all the time.
And that is it!
